Typical Permissible Wall Thickness Variations for ASTM A500 Steel Pipe
The wall thickness of ASTM A500 tubing may vary within certain limits. At any measured point, the minimum wall thickness must not be more than 10% below the specified value. The maximum wall thickness, excluding the weld seam in welded tubing, must not exceed 10% above the specified thickness. For square and rectangular tubing, these wall thickness tolerances apply specifically to the center areas of the flat sides.
