ERW steel pipe standard

Electric resistance welded (ERW) steel pipes must adhere to various industry standards to ensure quality and suitability for different applications. The primary standards for ERW steel pipes include:

API 5L:

This standard is applicable to both seamless and welded steel pipes used for gas and water transportation in the oil and gas industry. It includes specifications for common ports, pipe socket ports, direct stream tubes (TFL), and specific connection tube processing.

ASTM A53:

Pipes under this standard are intended for mechanical and pressure applications and are also suitable for ordinary uses in steam, water, gas, and air lines.

ASTM A178:

This standard covers electric-resistance-welded tubes with minimum-wall-thickness made of carbon steel and carbon-manganese steel. These tubes are used in boiler tubes, boiler flues, superheater flues, and safe ends.

ASTM A500:

This standard applies to cold-formed welded and seamless carbon steel structural tubing in round, square, rectangular, or special shapes. These tubes are used in welded, riveted, or bolted construction of bridges and buildings, and for general structural purposes.

ASTM A691:

This standard specifies carbon and alloy steel pipe, electric-fusion-welded with filler metal added. The pipes are fabricated from pressure-vessel-quality plate of various analyses and strength levels, suitable for high-pressure service at high temperatures.

ASTM A252:

This standard covers nominal wall cylindrical steel pipe piles used as permanent load-carrying members or as shells to form cast-in-place concrete piles.

ASTM A672:

This standard covers electric-fusion-welded steel pipe designed for high-pressure service at moderate temperatures.
