Stainless steel pipe surface finish varies according to different environments. Knowing how the environment affects stainless steel pipe can help us to choose the correct type of stainless steel, otherwise stainless steel pipe will also rust and corrode. Different stainless steel pipes require different surface treatments.

Stainless Steel Pipe Pretreatment Procedure:

- Polishing: remove the roughness of the stainless steel surface, and perform mechanical grinding and polishing to a certain surface finish;

- Degreasing: remove surface oil;

- Pickling: remove the oxide on the surface;

- Weak corrosion: activate the surface to be treated, remove the surface passivation film, and expose the metal crystal structure.

Stainless Steel Pipe Surface Treatment Method:

- Mechanical method: use a polishing machine or other machinery to remove surface roughness.

- Chemical method: degreasing with lye, pickling with acid solution, and descaling by dissolving grease with organic solvent.

- Electrochemical process: use electrochemical degreasing to perform electrochemical etching.

- Rolling, centrifugal rolling, centrifugal disc brightening, and rotating smoothing are suitable for small pieces with smoothing and descaling effects.

- Sandblasting: it is suitable for large-area treatment and has the functions of decontamination and oxide scale removal.

Therefore, the appropriate method should be selected according to the surface condition of the stainless steel pipe and the subsequent quality requirements.
