Overview of NACE MR 0175/ISO 1156 and MR 0103ISO 17945

What is NACE?

NACE is the International Association of American Corrosion Engineers, a civil society organization in the field of international corrosion and protection, founded in 1943 by 11 pipeline industry corrosion engineers, and is now the world's largest organization for the dissemination of corrosion knowledge.

Knowledge of the organization, its responsibility is to improve public awareness of corrosion control and prevention.

The National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) began co-publishing the NACE standard in 2001. NACE is responsible for administering a large number of standards, of which the most influential and well-known is MR 0175, which is known as "Sulfide Resistant All-Genuine Materials for Oilfield Equipment".

MR 0175NAE was promulgated in 1975 to provide guidelines for the selection of gold-weighted materials for fluidization-enriched failures in oil and gas production environments.

So widespread is the use of MR 0175 in the process industry that many references to NACE are made exclusively to MR 0175.

Development of the NACE MR

In 2003, however, this changed. In that year, MR 0175 was drastically changed.

The chlorinated stress corrosion pattern was added to the vulcanized stress pattern. Then, later in 2003, the document was changed again and named the NACE/ISO Joint Document.

Then, in late 2003, the document was revised again and issued as a joint NACE/ISO document, and the new name of MR 0175 was NACE MR 0175/ISO 15156.

In April of the same year, NACE also issued a new standard MR 0103, each of which is called Resistance of Metals to Hydrophobic Stress Cracking in Corrosive Petrochemical Environments, which is equivalent to the refining industry version of NACE MR 0175." Asmi

Yu highlighted that MR 0103 refers only to sulfidation stress cracking and is similar in many ways to the pre-2003 MR 0175, which has accelerated the use of MR 0103 in the refining industry.

In 2013, the document was revised, reformatted and published as a 1SO companion to IS0 17945, with the new title Petroleum, Petrochemical and Natural Gas Industries - All-generic Materials for Resistance to Sulfide Stress Cracking in Corrosive Petroleum Refining Rings. 2015, the NACE version of MR 0103 was published.

In 2015, NACE released MR O103/SO 17945.

NACE MR 0175NACE MR 0175/S0 15156 is identical to a version of NACE MR 0175/S0 15156, and as such, the standard is implemented as law in some states and regions of the U.S.A. Asmee Alloys would like to point out that NACE MR 0103/ISO 17945, which is not currently used in any of the NACE standards, has not been adopted as a standard.

17945, which is not currently enforced by any governmental agency, is not mandatory.
