ASTM A312 is a standard for seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel pipes, common used grades are 304/304L and 316/316L. ASTM A312 welded stainless steel pipe is manufactured from rolled plate or continuous coil or strip. This is a cold forming process in which, in the case of a continuous process, sheets or coils are rolled into circular cross-sections with the aid of plate benders or rolls.


There are many welding processes for stainless steel pipes, such as ERW (resistance welding); HFW (high frequency welding); LSAW (longitudinal submerged arc welding); SSAW (spiral submerged arc welding) and DSAW (double submerged arc welding).
