Steel Sheet Pile Types

Therefore, selection of suitable sheet piles is crucial for the major players in the construction industry to make the right decisions in terms of engineering, value and their application.

Sheet piles come in a variety of cross-sections and shapes. They can be hot-rolled sheet piles, cold-rolled sheet piles or cold-formed sheet piles. Steel sheet piles can be improved in durability through corrosion protection measures such as coatings and cathodic protection.

Commonly used steel sheet piles can be roughly divided into the following three categories:

- straight web type

- shallow or deep arched-web type

- Z web type

The outstanding feature of sheet piles is that they can be used at greater depths. Walls using steel sheet piles have very little water leakage, so steel sheet piles have advantages in the construction of deep cofferdams.
