Downhole power drilling uses downhole power drilling tools to drive the drill bit to break rocks. The drill string does not rotate during drilling, resulting in less wear and long service life. Especially suitable for drilling directional wells. Downhole electric drills are divided into turbine drills, electric drills and screw drills.

The cutting or grinding action of the drill bit as it rotates causes the rock to be crushed. Rotary drilling rigs are currently a common drilling method. According to the power transmission mode, rotary drilling rigs can be divided into two types: underground power drilling rigs and rotary table drilling rigs. The rotary drilling rig is equipped with a rotary table at the wellhead of the drilling floor. There is a square hole in the center of the turntable. The kelly at the upper end of the drill string passes through the square hole. The bottom of the kelly connects the drill string and drill bit. Rotates with the drill bit to break the rock.
