ASTM A252 Steel Pipe

ASTM A252 standard covers nominal (average) wall welded and seamless steel pipes for piling purposes, available in different length ranges.

ASTM A252 pipe length specifications are as follows:

Single Random Length (SRL) - 16 to 15 feet

Double Random Length (DRL) - Average 35 feet, minimum length 25 feet.

The A252 standard specification includes three grades (1, 2, 3), of which grade 3 is mainly used for piling.

A252 pipe can have plain ends and be finished by flame cutting or machine end cutting. When chamfering is required, it should be chamfered at an angle of 30±5 degrees.

Manufacture Types of ASTM A252 Pipe:

- seamless pipe

Hot rolling, cold drawing and thermal expansion.

- welded pipe

ERW (resistance welding), LSAW (longitudinal submerged arc welding) and DSAW/SSAW (spiral arc welded pipe).

Allowable Tolerances of A252 Steel Pipe:

Outer diameter tolerance: +/-1%

Wall Thickness Tolerance: +/-12%

Weight should be +15% or -5% of the theoretical weight
