AS 1074 specifies the dimensional standards for steel pipes ranging from DN 8 to DN 150, and classifies them into three categories based on wall thickness: light, medium, and heavy. The pipe dimensions and mass values conform to the specifications outlined in ISO 65. This article will introduce the dimensions and tests of AS 1074 steel pipes.

Hydrostatic Test and Non-destructive Test of AS 1074 Steel Pipes
1. Hydrostatic Test
A hydrostatic pressure of 5 MPa shall be applied and maintained for a sufficient duration to confirm the integrity of the pipe. No leakage is permitted during the test.
2. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
Eddy Current Testing (ET) shall be performed in accordance with AS 2084, suitable for detecting surface and near-surface defects.
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) shall be conducted in accordance with Appendix C of AS 1074. This method is particularly applicable for weld seam inspection in Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) steel pipes manufactured under AS 1074.
