ASTM A500 pipes are cold-formed carbon steel structural tubes that can be manufactured in three shapes: round, square, and rectangular. They are available in both welded and seamless types, depending on production requirements.

At Union Steel Industry, we offer a complete range of ASTM A500 products in standard sizes and wall thicknesses, covering both pipe and tube to meet various project needs.

Shapes of ASTM A500 Steel Pipe

Round Pipe: With a circular cross-section, round pipes are widely used in pipeline systems, support columns, and bridge structures due to their uniform strength distribution.

Square Pipe: Featuring a square profile, these pipes are ideal for construction and bridge projects such as beams, columns, and frames. They offer excellent load-bearing capacity and resistance to bending.

Rectangular Pipe: Known for their unique shape, rectangular pipes are extensively applied in pipeline transport and structural support, making them indispensable in modern engineering.

ASTM A500 Steel Pipe Grades

Grade A: Manufactured from low-carbon steel with a minimum yield strength of 160 MPa, this grade provides basic mechanical performance and is mainly used in non-load-bearing structures with low pressure demands.

Grade B: With a minimum yield strength of 315 MPa, this grade offers good strength and stability, making it suitable for general building structures.

Grade C: Providing a minimum yield strength of 345 MPa and excellent tensile properties, Grade C is widely used in demanding construction applications.

Grade D: Less commonly used, this grade delivers the highest mechanical performance and is designed for structural applications under extreme load conditions.

Differences Among ASTM A500 Grades A/B/C/D

We supply ASTM A500 carbon steel hollow sections in all four grades—A, B, C, and D. Each grade has distinct chemical and mechanical properties tailored to specific applications:

Grade A: Suitable for light structural and general construction use.

Grade B: Designed for stronger load-bearing requirements.

Grades C & D: Intended for heavy-duty applications requiring higher strength, toughness, and durability.

FAQs:

1. What is ASTM A500 material?
ASTM A500 is the standard specification for cold-formed welded and seamless carbon steel structural tubing. The material used is carbon steel, widely applied in construction, structural support, and general engineering.

2. What is ASTM A500 equivalent to?
Comparable standards to ASTM A500 include:

China: GB/T 6728

Europe: EN 10219-1 & EN 10219-2

International: ISO 10799

Japan: JIS G 3466

It is important to note that there is no exact one-to-one correspondence between standards from different countries or regions. Equivalency should be determined by comparing mechanical properties, steel type, and application requirements.
